Over 1,000 Complaints Flood In Over Kim Keon Hee's Health
A total of 961 complaints asking about the health of Kim Keon Hee, who is being held in detention, were filed with the Seoul Southern Detention Center over 19 days. According to materials submitted to the office of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Eui-gyeom by the Ministry of Justice on the 8th, the complaints were filed from July 27 to August 14, whereas in May only three such complaints had been received. In just about two months, the number of complaints has grown hundreds of times over.
At the first hearing of the appeals trial in August — a case of brokerage bribery under the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes Act presided over by the 15-3 Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court — former presidential office administrative official Jung Ji-won testified, "(Kim) has to lie down all day and barely eats, so she doesn't even have the strength to get up."
However, the detention center's internal reports tell a different story. According to materials obtained by Rep. Kim, Kim complained of dizziness in August and received IV fluid treatment, and she has been selectively eating from the group meals provided by the detention center while also consuming food purchased with her inmate account funds.
