Na Kyung-won sends Zelensky thank-you letter for allowing North Korean POWs' transfer to South Korea

Rep. Na Kyung-won of the People Power Party disclosed on Facebook on the 9th a thank-you letter she sent to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for allowing two North Korean prisoners of war to travel to South Korea.

Regarding her motivation for sending the letter, Na pointed to the government's decision the previous day (the 8th) to recall Park Ki-chang, South Korea's ambassador to Ukraine. "I question whether it called for such an extreme measure as recalling the ambassador," she said, adding, "I sent the letter to correct the government's misguided diplomacy."

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement by its spokesperson on the 8th (local time) that "diplomacy must take precedence over emotions," and that it would invite Ambassador Park to the ministry this week to convey Ukraine's position. The recall is the first such measure in 18 years, since 2008.
