Man in His 60s Found Dead in Cheonan Apartment... Daughter in Her 40s Emergency-Arrested

A man in his 60s was found dead in an apartment in Cheonan. After receiving a missing persons report, police discovered the body at his home while checking on his whereabouts, and emergency-arrested his daughter, a woman in her 40s identified only as A, at a motel in Busan. Residents had also reported a rotting smell coming from the apartment hallway at the time.

Police examined the scene with forensic investigators and, noting suspicious circumstances such as no signs of gas having been used after A's visit, are investigating the case as a murder. A is suspected of bludgeoning her father to death in mid-last month.

During questioning, A told investigators that she had received hundreds of millions of won from her father to invest in real estate and stocks but suffered losses, and that she committed the crime out of financial troubles and fear of her father's lectures. Police plan to detain A on charges including patricide as they investigate the exact motive behind the crime.
