Presidential Office Forms Working Team for Trump Golf Meeting

The presidential office announced on the 13th that it has formed a working team to prepare for a golf meeting between President Lee Jae-myung and U.S. President Donald Trump. The team is led by Protocol Secretary Kwon Hyuk-gi and consists mainly of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Security Service, the National Security Office, the Office of the Protocol Secretary, and the Office of the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. The team has already held one meeting.

The schedule for the golf meeting has not yet been finalized. President Lee is set to visit the United States to attend the G20 summit in Miami, Florida, on December 14–15. Finalizing the specific schedule is the next step in the preparations.

The golf meeting was proposed after President Lee suggested it during his summit with President Trump in New York on September 22 (local time), while visiting the United States to attend the UN General Assembly, and the Trump side responded positively.
