Arrest Warrant Sought for Biological Father Who Let 17-Month-Old Daughter Die of Neglect
The Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency has sought an arrest warrant for a man in his 30s, identified only as A, who faces charges of child abuse resulting in death for failing to properly care for his 17-month-old daughter, who died. A pretrial detention hearing for A was held on Friday morning at the Pyeongtaek Branch of the Suwon District Court.
A is suspected of neglecting his daughter after his wife left home early this month, failing to feed her and leaving her alone while he went to work. On the night of the 28th, A himself called emergency services, saying his daughter was not breathing, and was urgently arrested at the hospital by police dispatched at the request of firefighters during a joint response.
During questioning, A reportedly told police that he had fed his daughter formula about twice a day. No injuries were found on the child. Police plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy conducted on the 30th.
