Trump: If Democrats Win Midterms, I'll Be Left With Only My Veto Pen
U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday (local time) that if Democrats win control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections, he would become 'Mr. Veto.' Trump explained, "When they send up bills, I'll just veto them," adding, "After everything gets vetoed for a month or two, they'll eventually come to the negotiating table." He added, "I'm not going to just let them have their way," saying, "At some point, we'll reach an agreement."
He went on to note that this would not be the first time a president failed to secure a majority in the House or Senate, stressing, "Hopefully we won't have to worry about that situation."
The midterm elections will be held on November 3. As of 10:59 a.m. on Tuesday, according to prediction market Kalshi, Democrats were favored to win control, with a 93.4% probability of taking the House (6.6% for Republicans) and a 72% probability of taking the Senate (28% for Republicans).
