A public opinion poll released on the 29th showed that opposition to the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-de outweighs support by 11 percentage points. The question arises: is there a gap between the political circles pushing for impeachment and public sentiment?

The survey was conducted as part of the National Barometer Survey (NBS) by Embrain Public, K-Stat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research from the 26th to the 28th, using telephone interviews with 1,007 men and women aged 18 or older nationwide. The margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. With results of "34% in favor, 45% opposed, and 21% undecided or no response," the gap by which opposition exceeded support fell outside the margin of error.

However, cautious voices are emerging even within the Democratic Party. Rep. Kim Young-jin said on SBS Radio on the 29th, "Everything that has come out so far is a matter of public record, and there are concerns about whether a parliamentary investigation is even possible." Rep. Jung Sung-ho also said that "parliamentary investigations in the past have mostly ended in anticlimax," urging a cautious approach.

Details of the survey can be found on the website of the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission.
