Iran's Oil Exports Exceed 1 Million Barrels Amid U.S. Strategy for Price Stability

The U.S. government's tacit approval of Iranian crude oil distribution, aimed at stabilizing international oil prices, has allowed Iran's daily oil exports to remain above pre-war levels, exceeding 1 million barrels. According to estimates from analytics firms, Iran's daily crude oil shipments are not significantly different from last year's average of 1.69 million barrels per day, generating an average daily income of $140 million. Iran had previously increased its average daily exports to 2.04 million barrels in February of this year.

In a strategic decision to ensure global oil supply stability and curb price increases, the U.S. has conducted precision strikes on Iranian military targets but has refrained from destroying oil infrastructure or forcibly impeding oil tanker transport. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated in an October 16th interview that Iran's vessels have been allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to maintain global oil supply.

On October 13th, U.S. forces launched precision strikes on approximately 90 military targets on Khark Island, a crucial hub handling 90% of Iran's oil exports. However, satellite imagery analysis on October 14th revealed that 55 storage tanks on Khark Island were undamaged, and two Iranian oil tankers were in the process of loading 2.7 million barrels of crude oil. Iran continues its exports through the island and the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned on October 16th at the White House the consideration of further strikes on Iranian oil facilities on Khark Island.
