Assembly Subcommittee Halts Jeju Special Act Review Amid Standoff Over Serious Crimes Agency Bill
The National Assembly's Home Affairs Committee Bill Review Subcommittee 1 postponed its review of the Jeju Special Act amendment on the 17th due to a ruling-opposition party standoff over the Serious Crimes Agency Establishment Bill.
The Home Affairs Committee Bill Review Subcommittee 1 attempted a consolidated review of local special acts through three meetings from the 11th to the 17th. During the meeting on the 17th, reviews of 12 amendment bills for the Jeonbuk Special Act and 4 for the Gangwon Special Act were completed and sent to a full committee session, but the review of 10 amendment bills for the Jeju Special Act was deferred to the next meeting.
It was understood that the review of the Jeju Special Act amendment required more time due to issues related to the Serious Crimes Agency Establishment Bill.
