Poland on Highest Alert Amid Massive Russian Drone and Missile Attacks

Russia launched approximately 400 drones and numerous missiles toward Ukraine on Monday night, prompting NATO and Poland to declare their highest state of readiness. The large-scale aerial assault by Russia struck multiple regions across Ukraine, resulting in at least four deaths and over 24 injuries, AP reported, citing Ukrainian authorities. In the city of Zaporizhzhia specifically, at least one person was killed and five were injured during the overnight assault.

As Russia's airstrikes approached NATO airspace, Poland and Romania scrambled fighter jets, and Poland elevated its air defense posture to the 'highest level,' according to Poland's Operational Command. Poland's Operational Command explained, 'Due to the striking activities of Russian long-range aviation on Ukrainian territory, Polish and Allied air forces commenced operations within our airspace.'

Russian forces launched 23 cruise missiles and seven ballistic missiles across Ukraine on Monday night. The Ukrainian military command also reported that Russian forces have intensified attacks along a front line stretching approximately 1,207 kilometers.
