YouTuber Jeon Han-gil Files Police Complaint Against Former President Moon Jae-in

YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, who previously worked as a Korean history instructor, has filed a police complaint against former President Moon Jae-in, accusing him of espionage and collaboration with the enemy. Lawyer Lee Seong-jik, who submitted the complaint alongside Jeon, argued that the USB drive containing the 'Korean Peninsula New Economic Initiative,' given by former President Moon to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during the 2018 inter-Korean summit, is crucial evidence of treasonous acts that threaten national security.

At a press conference, Jeon explained the background of his complaint, stating that the contents of the USB were classified as a Level 3 national secret, and it was incomprehensible that information hidden from citizens was directly handed over to the enemy's leader. Lawyer Lee cited a court ruling from a lawsuit seeking to nullify a refusal of information disclosure, which determined the USB's contents to be a Level 3 secret potentially harming national interests. He asserted that this action fulfills the legal requirements for charges such as espionage and collaboration with the enemy under the Penal Code.

The USB in question was reportedly handed over during the 2018 Panmunjom 'Dodari' summit. While the Blue House at the time described it as a booklet and video material containing the Korean Peninsula New Economic Initiative, suspicions have since emerged about the inclusion of documents related to North Korea's nuclear power plant construction.
