Gwangju Mayoral Candidate Kim Seok-gu Announces Region-Specific Pledges
Gwangju Mayoral Candidate Kim Seok-gu held an announcement on the 27th regarding tailored pledges for Gwangju City's four distinct regions. Candidate Kim stated his policy is to classify Gwangju's towns, townships, and neighborhoods into four regions and establish pledges based on each area's specific issues and characteristics.
The first announcement covered Region 1, comprising Songjeong-dong, Tanbeol-dong, Toichon-myeon, Namjong-myeon, and Namhansanseong-myeon, aiming to create a healing living zone integrating tourism, rural development, and welfare. Pledges include establishing a tourism loop connecting Namhansanseong Fortress, Toichon, and Palgudang; setting up rural care centers; and building a local food direct transaction platform.
Region 2, including Gyeongan-dong, Ssangryeong-dong, Gwangnam 1-dong, and Gwangnam 2-dong, focuses on revitalizing the old downtown and enhancing transportation convenience. Proposed measures include a renewal of the Gyeongan-dong central commercial district, increasing train services during peak commute hours on the Gyeonggang Line, and improving bus-subway transfer systems.
Candidate Kim, who previously served as a National Assembly aide and head of the Management Innovation Department at the Gyeonggi Province Economic & Science Promotion Agency, highlights his 'executability' as a strength, based on his policy implementation experience during the 7th popular election term under Governor Lee Jae-myung.
