Rep. Jeong Cheong-rae of the Democratic Party of Korea evaluated Lee Jae-myung's basic income policy as an embodiment of the constitutional spirit and a future milestone during the launch ceremony for the party's third-term Basic Society Committee held at the National Assembly on the 7th. In his opening address, Rep. Jeong stated, "The basic income policy championed by Lee Jae-myung not only aligns perfectly with the Constitution but also concretizes the fundamental rights outlined in the Constitution, presenting the future direction for South Korea." He further emphasized that President Lee's insight is "truly remarkable" and that the policy must continue to gain momentum.

Song Ki-heon, Senior Deputy Chairman, emphasized tangible achievements beyond mere declarations and design in his welcome speech. He noted that areas where pilot basic income projects for rural and fishing communities have been implemented are seeing population growth for the first time in decades. "We are now at a stage where we must prove the legitimacy of a basic society through results that citizens can feel," he said.

Through the 'Basic Society Vision Declaration' announced on this day, the third-term Basic Society Committee formalized its push to enact a 'Model Basic Society Law' to establish a legal foundation for realizing a basic society. The committee also announced its strategy to concentrate efforts on disseminating policy models at the local government level, defining the upcoming June local elections as a "decisive turning point" for the vision of a basic society to take root in people's daily lives.

One of the key aspects of this organizational reform is the establishment of a 'Youth Basic Society Committee.' This committee will focus on institutionalizing participant engagement and enhancing policy execution in areas directly related to youth life, such as labor, housing, assets, education, and care.
