The Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) have appointed 500 currently practicing teachers with extensive experience in college admissions guidance as the 'College Admissions Counseling Group' to assist students and parents facing difficulties as college entrance exams approach. The counseling group will provide one-on-one college admissions consultations to students and parents preparing for university entrance from this month until March of next year.

Online consultations will be available through the college admissions information portal 'Adiga,' and phone consultations (1600-1615) can be accessed on weekdays from 9 AM to 10 PM, and on Saturdays until 1 PM. Students who apply for consultations will receive professional advice based on their student records, in accordance with criteria and evaluation systems developed in collaboration with experts, including admissions officers from major universities. Consultations related to the student record comprehensive assessment track, which has high demand from private education, will be provided separately online through the college admissions information portal starting in July.

An AI-based conversational college admissions information search service (chatbot) will also be launched by the end of June. Through this chatbot, students and parents can easily obtain complex admissions information, such as comparing and analyzing university-specific admission guidelines and comparing their own grades with past admission cutoffs, in a question-and-answer format.

The Ministry of Education and KCUE are also promoting the 'Hand in Hand College Admissions ON (Warm)' project to help high school students living in child welfare facilities with their college admissions and career planning. Measures to alleviate the burden of preparing for the 2028 academic year admissions, where the first college admissions reforms will be applied, are also being prepared. An analysis guide for the 2028 academic year college admissions plan will be provided on the college admissions information portal in November.

Lee Hae-sook, Director of the Higher Education and Lifelong Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Education, said, "The College Admissions Counseling Group is a key support system that helps students and parents adequately prepare for college admissions within public education." She added, "We will further solidify the educational ladder by providing counseling support that encompasses vulnerable groups as well."
