The Iraqi government, designating South Korea as a key partner, agreed on a schedule for the supply of advanced air defense systems by 2026 on the 7th (local time). Prime Minister Al-Sudani held a meeting on this day with the Army Chief of Staff, key commanders, and officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Industry Committee (DIC) to review measures to strengthen the airspace defense system.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) signed a contract worth 136 billion won to supply Surion (KUH) helicopters to Iraq. The helicopters are scheduled to be delivered by March 2029.

Iraq is also concurrently negotiating with France's Thales Group to introduce the GM400 long-range radar.
