Ministry of Health and Welfare Finalizes 346.1 Billion Won Supplementary Budget
A supplementary budget of 346.1 billion won for 2026 has been finalized after approval at the State Council, aimed at directly supporting the livelihoods of citizens facing hardship due to the economic downturn. This budget, an increase of 19.8 billion won from the government's original proposal of 326.3 billion won, brings the Ministry of Health and Welfare's total expenditure for the year to 137.841 trillion won.
The confirmed supplementary budget will be focused on stabilizing the livelihoods of vulnerable groups and addressing care gaps. The 'Just Give' program, a basic food security initiative, will be expanded from 150 locations nationwide to 300. Livelihood support for households experiencing crises will also be expanded by approximately 16,000 cases. Emergency care services will be provided to about 2,400 individuals in urgent need of temporary care, and daily care services will be strengthened for around 3,200 young and middle-aged individuals.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare stated its commitment to swiftly executing the supplementary budget to alleviate the burden on citizens.
