YouTube Hikes US Subscription Fees for First Time in 3 Years
YouTube has raised its subscription prices in the U.S. for the first time in three years. The YouTube Premium individual standard plan has increased from $13.99 to $15.99 per month, and the family plan from $22.99 to $26.99.
The YouTube Lite plan is now $8.99 per month, and the YouTube Music Premium standalone subscription is $11.99.
YouTube stated that the price increase is to maintain features that members value, such as ad-free viewing, background playback, and YouTube Music's extensive music library.
This move aligns with the trend of other streaming platforms like Spotify, Netflix, and Disney+ also successively raising fees to offset rising content and operating costs.
