Kim Sung-tae Interprets Lee Jin-sook's Daegu Mayor Bid as 'High-Level Strategy'

Former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Sung-tae interpreted former Korea Communications Commission (KCC) Chairperson Lee Jin-sook's recent moves as a 'double-pronged' strategy targeting both a Daegu mayoral bid and a National Assembly by-election. Appearing on MBC Radio's 'Kwon Soon-pyo's News Kick' on the night of the 13th, Kim analyzed that Lee's assertion of 'unwillingness to rule out an independent candidacy' indicates she is simultaneously considering the possibility of running for Daegu mayor or a National Assembly by-election.

Kim suggested that Lee's ability to employ such a strategy is due to guidance from individuals with extensive political experience. In response to the host's question, he added, 'If she doesn't win the Daegu mayoral race, it won't be too late to participate in the National Assembly by-election,' implying no need to commit to one path yet.

Regarding Representative Joo Ho-young's movements, Kim judged them as a political maneuver to rally conservative forces, recognizing that the nomination situation for the Daegu mayoral candidate is unfavorable. This analysis suggests Joo is maintaining his parliamentary seat while looking ahead to the post-local election period.
