Republicans Raise Security Concerns Over Saudi US Base Attack

US Republican leadership has voiced national security concerns, suggesting that commercial satellite imagery may have revealed military base locations shortly before Iran's attack on a base in Saudi Arabia. The March 27 strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia injured at least 12 US service members and damaged multiple high-value aircraft, including KC-135 refueling tankers and E-3G Sentry airborne early warning and control system planes.

Chairman of the House Select Committee on the CCP, John Moolenaar, noted that Mizar Vision published high-resolution annotated images of U.S. aircraft at Prince Sultan Air Base just before the March 27 missile and drone attack. Moolenaar cautioned that these images might have originated from Airbus satellite footage, carrying the risk of becoming 'targeting data' that adversaries could exploit to identify and strike U.S. assets.

Moolenaar sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Pete Heges urging him to press Airbus to restrict the release of such imagery.
