Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary ceasefire during the Orthodox Easter period. The Russian government announced that it would implement a truce from 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, until the end of Easter Sunday. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had ordered a ceasefire in all directions, but warned that they would be prepared for 'provocations' or 'aggressive actions'.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would respect the truce initiative. President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was prepared for reciprocal measures, saying people needed a peaceful Easter free from threats and tangible steps toward peace. He added that he hoped the truce would continue indefinitely after Easter.

Separately from the truce agreement, on April 14, 2026, near Kyiv, Metropolitan Epiphanius, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, blessed nine off-road vehicles for deployment to the front lines. These vehicles are part of a donation from the Korolivskyi Smak food company and the All-Ukrainian Support Union charitable foundation to the Ukrainian military for the evacuation of wounded soldiers. The event took place amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
