Ahn Min-seok, preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education, has received a final ruling from the Supreme Court ordering him to pay 20 million won in damages in a lawsuit filed by Choi Soon-sil. Choi had claimed that Ahn spread false information around 2016 and 2017, raising suspicions about her hidden assets, and accordingly filed a lawsuit for 100 million won in damages against Ahn in May 2021.

On the 15th, Ahn Min-seok, preliminary candidate for Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education, stated his position on the Supreme Court's civil ruling, expressing regret that the judiciary had ruled this way despite his sufficient explanations regarding Choi Soon-sil's lawsuit. He added that as someone who exposed Choi Soon-sil's state affairs manipulation, he has no shame towards the party he belonged to or the public, and that even if he could go back in time, exposing Choi Soon-sil's state affairs manipulation and tracing her hidden assets were things Ahn Min-seok had to do.

Ahn stated that he would focus on the Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education election, vowing to become the unified candidate for the democratic-progressive camp and lead to an overwhelming victory in Gyeonggi Province.
