Heated Race for Jeonnam-Gwangju Superintendent Election
With former Jeonnam Superintendent Kim Dae-jung officially announcing his candidacy for the first integrated superintendent position for Jeonnam and Gwangju on the 15th, policy alliances and consolidation movements among incumbent superintendents and multiple preliminary candidates are intensifying the competition for the superintendent election.
Following the conclusion of the Democratic Party primaries for the unified special mayoral election in Jeonnam and Gwangju, attention has shifted to the integrated special superintendent election. The candidates include former Jeonnam Superintendent Kim Dae-jung, candidates from the Korean Teachers and Educational Workers' Union, Gwangju Superintendent Lee Jung-seon, and preliminary candidates Kim Hae-ryong, Kang Suk-young, and Go Du-gap.
Gwangju Superintendent Lee Jung-seon, along with preliminary candidates Kim Hae-ryong, Kang Suk-young, and Go Du-gap, attended a forum on the 14th to discuss the vision and direction of integrated education policy. Jeong Seong-hong and Jang Gwan-ho, candidates who are former leaders of the Korean Teachers and Educational Workers' Union, agreed on a consolidation method using 100% public opinion surveys on the 14th.
