People Power Party Floor Leader Song Eon-seok Attends Supreme Council Meeting

Song Eon-seok, Floor Leader of the People Power Party, on the 16th raised suspicions at the Supreme Council meeting that the police are giving preferential treatment in their investigation into the election law violation case involving the Democratic Party's candidate for Seoul mayor. Song pointed out at the meeting that the investigation methods by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency concerning Jung Won-oh, the Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral candidate, are inconsistent, with cases being transferred between the Dobong and Seongdong police stations, and criticized this as an intention to conduct "direct investigations into opposition parties but muddled investigations into ruling parties."

He claimed that Candidate Jung deceived Seoul citizens by fabricating non-existent approval ratings, and pushed the argument that this was a tactic to make "opposition parties guilty, ruling parties innocent," similar to past cases involving lawmakers Kwon Seong-dong and Jeon Jae-soo.

Song Eon-seok criticized Jeon Jae-soo, a Democratic Party candidate for Busan mayor, for repeatedly stating only that the issue is "concluded" rather than clearly denying that he received a Cartier watch from the Unification Church. Song described this attitude as "extremely arrogant," adding that while the joint investigation might be concluded, the doubts in the minds of Busan citizens are not.
