North Korea Remittance Probe: Shifting Focus from Moon Jae-in to Lee Jae-myung?

Former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Planning and Coordination Director Noh Eun-chae claimed that the focus of the Ssangbangul North Korea remittance case investigation has shifted from former President Moon Jae-in to Lee Jae-myung, who was the Governor of Gyeonggi Province at the time. Mentioning the shift in investigation direction, former Director Noh stated that testimony regarding the delivery of $700,000 in the Philippines has resurfaced as a key issue.

Bang Yong-cheol, former Vice Chairman of Ssangbangul, maintained his previous testimony that he personally met North Korean operative Ri Ho-nam in the Philippines in 2019 and that former Chairman Kim Sung-tae delivered the money. The NIS, however, adhered to its prior judgment that Ri Ho-nam was not in the Philippines at the time.

Meanwhile, during the hearing, prosecutor Park Sang-yong was removed from the proceedings for refusing to take the oath.
