Daedeok-gu District in Daejeon is actively stepping up to support young people isolated from society, helping them reconnect with the world. According to data from Statistics Korea and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, there are approximately 540,000 isolated and reclusive young people nationwide. Analyses estimate the socioeconomic cost incurred by these young people at 7 trillion won annually.

On April 16, Daedeok-gu District signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Daedeok Family Center, establishing support measures for the stable social reintegration of young people. Under the agreement, both organizations will cooperate in identifying at-risk youth and providing tailored services.

For young people experiencing prolonged social isolation, a variety of programs will be operated to aid psychological recovery and relationship building, while continuously monitoring the condition of participating youth and supporting their gradual reintegration into society.
