Jeonnam Province to Aid Young Workers in SMEs with Student Loan Repayments
Jeonnam Province will begin recruiting applicants for a program that offers up to 1.2 million won annually to ease the burden of student loan repayment for young people employed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Since its inception in 2020, the program has benefited a total of 596 young individuals, providing approximately 600 million won in assistance.
Eligibility criteria include being a young person aged 18 to 45 residing in Jeonnam as of the announcement date (April 1st), currently employed by an SME in the Jeonnam region, and repaying student loans through the Korea Student Aid Foundation. Applications will be accepted by mail at the Jeonnam Province Hope Talent Development Division until June 5th.
Kang Seok-un, head of the Jeonnam Province Hope Talent Development Division, expressed hope that the program will alleviate financial burdens for young people working in SMEs and contribute to the settlement of local talent in Jeonnam. He added that the province will do its best to create an environment where young people can pursue their dreams in the region.
