Taesan County Mayor Candidate Kang Chul-min Announces Pledges Focused on Residents' Daily Lives

Kang Chul-min, a candidate for Taesan County Mayor from the Democratic Party of Korea, announced pledges on the 28th that are directly related to the daily lives of residents. These pledges aim for tangible changes that county residents can feel. At the 'First Vision Proclamation Ceremony' held at his campaign office on the same day, Candidate Kang said, "Politics is not about grand gestures; the residents' daily lives must change." He pointed out that the daily inconveniences faced by residents—such as seniors having difficulty visiting hospitals, single-person households struggling with minor home repairs, and parents giving up work due to childcare gaps—can no longer be left to individual responsibility.

Kang announced the introduction of a public service called the 'Just Do It Center' to resolve minor daily inconveniences, focusing on households with residents aged 65 and over, such as replacing light bulbs and fixing water pipes.

He also presented a plan to guarantee mobility rights for seniors and the transportation-vulnerable through the introduction of a fully public bus system, demand-responsive transport (DRT), and expanded operation of 'Hope Taxis'.

The plan includes establishing a system to provide lunch five days a week by expanding support for community meal programs and supporting the meals and social interaction of single-person households by operating community restaurants.

As welfare policies, he announced the introduction of an implant support program for seniors and a monthly youth allowance of 100,000 won for middle and high school students. He also proposed measures to improve the urban living environment, including expanding public parking lots, improving flood-prone areas, and enhancing household waste disposal.

Kang vowed that if elected county mayor, he would pursue large-scale projects while also focusing on administrative efforts that cater to seniors' meals, children's after-school time, and the small inconveniences in the lives of county residents. He stated he would lead efforts to take responsibility for the later years of seniors who have stayed in the region their whole lives, create an environment where children can nurture their dreams in Taesan, and ensure that the efforts of farmers, fishermen, and small business owners are duly rewarded in the region.
