Cargo Truckers' Union, BGF Logis Reach Tentative Collective Agreement
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Public Transport Workers' Union Cargo Truckers' Headquarters and BGF Logis have tentatively reached a collective agreement on the 29th, following their fifth round of negotiations. This agreement began on the 5th when the Cargo Truckers' Union demanded negotiations with BGF Logis and was reached amidst conflict, including rallies at logistics centers.
Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon and Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Ju-young participated in mediation to help facilitate the agreement. The Cargo Truckers' Union is currently proceeding with the final consent process for its members, and a signing ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on the 29th at the Jinju Regional Office of Employment and Labor, upon completion of internal procedures. Upon signing the agreement, the blockade of centers in Jinju and other locations will be lifted.
The Cargo Truckers' Union had been demanding direct negotiations with BGF after a fatal/serious accident occurred in front of the CU Jinju logistics center on the 20th. They subsequently set up an altar of remembrance at the Jinju logistics center and continued their rallies. Furthermore, on the 27th, they also set up an altar of remembrance and carried out blockades and rallies at the CU Jincheon logistics center, a national logistics hub.
If the agreement is finally finalized, concerns about delivery disruptions caused by the logistics center blockades will be alleviated, resolving uncertainty in the related market. If the signing ceremony proceeds as scheduled, normalization of the logistics sites is expected to occur rapidly.
