Cheon Ha-ram Criticizes 'Stale Politics' of Two Major Parties

Cheon Ha-ram, floor leader of the New Reform Party, appeared on a recent broadcast to point out the problems of the two major parties, criticizing the arrogance of the Democratic Party and the lethargy of the People Power Party. He described former Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae as a 'bad and strange candidate,' stating she had negatively influenced Korean politics. Regarding the People Power Party, he asserted, "No matter who runs, they can't win first place," highlighting their powerlessness.

Explaining the background for the New Reform Party's selection of former lawmaker Cho Eung-cheon as its candidate for Gyeonggi Provincial Governor, Cheon emphasized that Cho, who served two terms representing Namyangju and succeeded in extending the GTX-B line from Cheongnyangni to Namyangju, is the most knowledgeable candidate on transportation, housing, and regulatory issues in northern Gyeonggi Province. Cheon Ha-ram evaluated Cho as someone who will "resolve issues through administration, not politics," deeming him the right person to alleviate the commuting difficulties faced by Gyeonggi residents.

Cheon Ha-ram stated that candidate Cho must raise his approval ratings to make the People Power Party question the meaning of continuing the election. In response to suggestions that the division of conservative votes could increase the chances of Choo Mi-ae's victory, Cheon countered that without candidate Cho, the People Power Party candidate would have been unable to challenge the Democratic Party candidate, clearly indicating his intention to complete the Gyeonggi Provincial Governor election campaign.

The New Reform Party currently has candidates for seven metropolitan mayoral and gubernatorial positions, including Gyeonggi Province, as well as Seoul and Busan. Cheon Ha-ram expressed his personal opinion that the party's resources should be concentrated on these metropolitan leadership races.
