Cetus Achieves 10km Autonomous Navigation Milestone for AI Underwater Robot
The artificial intelligence (AI) based underwater robot 'SRV-8', developed by Cetus Technology, has successfully completed a 10km autonomous navigation mission off the coast of California, USA. This achievement marks its entry into the commercialization phase in the marine safety infrastructure sector.
SRV-8 is equipped with the capability to precisely render seafloor terrain in 3D using mine detection, underwater ultrasonics, and sensor fusion technologies. It enables stable data collection and repetitive tasks through autonomous navigation-based precision sensors, even in environments with limited visibility. SRV-8 features a modular payload structure that allows for the attachment and detachment of various specialized sensors.
This technology can be utilized in diverse public sectors, including port inspections, marine environmental surveys, underwater structure management, and disaster response. SRV-8 is expected to contribute to the advancement of unmanned solutions, minimizing diver risk exposure and reducing potential casualties.
