The U.S. House of Representatives' Ways and Means Committee has launched an investigation, demanding internal financial documents from three nonprofit organizations allegedly linked to Shanghai-based entrepreneur Neville Roy Singham. These organizations are accused of publishing Chinese propaganda critical of the United States, exhibiting pro-China and pro-communist tendencies.

David Chung, organizing director for one of the investigated groups, People's Forum, distributed protest materials at a May Day rally with the slogan: “TRUMP IS THE SYMPTOM. CAPITALISM IS THE DISEASE. SOCIALISM IS THE CURE!” The group has received $22.44 million in funding from Neville Roy Singham and has also collaborated with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, which identifies itself as a Marxist-communist organization. A separate investigation found that 600 organizations mobilized a total of $2 billion for the May Day protests.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith plans to scrutinize the funding sources and activities of these organizations. Smith stated that the investigation addresses "significant concerns" about a 'foreign-aligned influence network' within the U.S. and raises questions about its 'funding methods and structure.' Allegations have been made that the groups' funding methods and structure are inconsistent with their tax-exempt status. This investigation aims to determine the scale and nature of Neville Roy Singham's funding network's influence on political and social discourse in the United States.
