Trade Minister Visits US, Canada to Discuss Trade Issues and Submarine Bid

Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jong-kwan visited the United States and Canada to follow up on trade issues with the US and support South Korea's bid for a submarine project in Canada. During this visit, Minister Kim is discussing concrete business plans on-site, conveying South Korea's stance on tariff negotiations, and engaging in diplomatic activities to secure the large-scale submarine project.

Minister Kim visited Ottawa, Canada on May 5-6 (local time) and met with Minister of Industry Melanie Joly and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson. Minister Kim engaged in activities to support South Korea's bid for Canada's submarine project (CPSP).

Furthermore, Minister Kim signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between South Korean and Canadian businesses with Minister Joly. Minister Kim also met with Senator Hassan Youssef to discuss strategic cooperation measures related to the submarine project.
