UK ESS Fire: LG Battery-Supplied Facility Under Investigation

A fire has broken out at a 7MW ESS facility in Nottinghamshire, UK, which was supplied with LG batteries. Local fire authorities have launched an investigation into the cause.

The Ratcliffe-on-Soar ESS facility, where the fire occurred, began commercial operations in 2017. LG Chem (now LG Energy Solution) supplied the batteries, and UK energy firm Noriker Power built the operating system. Facilities supplied with LG Chem batteries have a history of fires.

LG Energy Solution stated that it is aware of the fire and plans to respond after identifying the cause.
