Kim Jong Un Sends Message to Putin, Pledges Commitment to Treaty Obligations
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 9, celebrating the 81st anniversary of the victory in World War II. In the message, Kim reaffirmed the North Korean government's stance of valuing the development of a 'comprehensive strategic partnership' between North Korea and Russia. He also emphasized that they would "always fulfill their responsibilities in fulfilling the obligations under the treaty" between the two countries.
In the message, Kim addressed President Putin as 'my dearest comrade' and conveyed, 'Pyongyang is always with you and the fraternal Russian people.' He also added, 'I wish that the Russian people will always have victory and glory on the path they walk.'
North Korea and Russia signed the 'Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' in 2024.
