Minister Kim Young-hoon Hopes Samsung Electronics Mediation Will Set New Labor-Management Model
Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon welcomed Samsung Electronics' labor and management entering the post-mediation process at the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) and urged them to create a new model for labor-management relations. In his opening remarks at a policy review and emergency employment and labor situation assessment meeting held on the 11th at the Government Complex Sejong, Minister Kim confirmed that the initiation of post-mediation for Samsung Electronics' labor and management was conducted with their mutual agreement.
Minister Kim expressed his hope that Samsung Electronics' labor and management will engage in the mediation with social responsibility, befitting the company's moniker 'Another Family, Samsung,' and that their relations will move beyond pursuing individual interests towards mutual growth. He also stated his hope that this incident would spur active social discussion on the desirable ways companies share and distribute their performance, and the government expressed its willingness to provide support.
Samsung Electronics' labor and management will undergo post-mediation over two days, the 11th and 12th, at the NLRC, where the commission will act as a mediator. Minister Kim also commented on Samsung Electronics' post-mediation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude to both labor and management for their decision and showing support with hashtags such as '#SupportNotCriticism'.
