Park Hyung-joon Announces 3rd Pledge: Early 2032 Opening for Gadeok Airport
Park Hyung-joon, the People Power Party candidate for Busan mayor, announced his third pledge on the 11th, themed 'World-Class Busan.' Key proposals included the early opening of Gadeok New Airport in 2032, the relocation of the Korea Development Bank to Busan, and attracting 10 million foreign tourists.
Park explained his pledges at a press conference held at the Busan City Council. He revealed his vision to transform Busan into a global hub for aviation logistics, industry, and tourism through Gadeok New Airport. The pledge includes a plan to expedite the actual opening date through an 'early passenger-focused opening,' independent of government timelines. To achieve this early opening, the plan involves rapidly reflecting the construction of two runways in the comprehensive airport development plan and establishing a supra-regional transportation network, including the commencement of construction for the BuTX (Busan-type express railway) and the Second Coastal Road.
Furthermore, he expressed his determination to see the Korea Development Bank relocated, characterizing the current situation as 'stalled for political reasons.' He also urged the government and the ruling party to enact a special law for a global hub city to attract international corporations.
