Nobel Laureate Economist's Three Predictions for the Future of AI

Professor Daron Acemoglu has presented crucial outlooks on the impact artificial intelligence (AI) will have on our society. He analyzed that AI may not contribute as significantly to productivity growth as expected, and that it will likely focus more on automating specific tasks rather than completely replacing human labor. This perspective suggests that AI will bring about changes only in certain fields, contrary to predictions by some that AI will drastically reduce jobs.

Professor Daron Acemoglu pointed out that AI technology could have a greater impact on 'power redistribution' and 'deepening inequality' than on productivity growth. He observed that if the benefits arising from the development and adoption of AI become concentrated among a few companies and individuals, and if workers' wages or job security decline, societal inequality as a whole could worsen.

He explained that if AI technology increases wealth for a specific class while simultaneously limiting opportunities for other classes, it could lead to severe social conflict.
