Jeonbuk Democrats Face Hard-to-Predict Tight Race

With 21 days remaining until the June 3 local elections, the Democratic Party faces a situation where predicting election outcomes is difficult, even in Jeonbuk, a traditional stronghold. Tensions are rising within the party as a candidate expelled from the party gains support in the Jeonbuk gubernatorial race.

Amid expectations of fierce contests in the Yeongnam region and Seoul, public opinion surveys for the Busan mayoral election show the gap in support between the Democratic Party and the People Power Party candidates narrowing to within the margin of error. In the Daegu mayoral election, the gap between the two candidates was also within the margin of error at 3 percentage points.

The Gyeongnam gubernatorial race also shows the gap between the Democratic Party candidate and the People Power Party candidate to be within the margin of error.
