Gyeongnam Police Officer Suspended After Being Caught Driving While Impaired

A police officer in the Gyeongnam region has been suspended from duty after causing an accident while driving in a hangover state.

On the morning of the 15th, an accident occurred on a road in Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, when a vehicle driven by Officer A, who had stopped, was rear-ended by another vehicle. During the process of handling this accident, Officer A's drunk driving was revealed. The officer's blood alcohol content at the time was found to be between 0.03% and 0.08%, a level sufficient for license suspension. The other driver sustained injuries, including a fractured nose.

The Changwon Jungbu Police Station has booked Officer A on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and, after reporting to a superior department on the day of the accident, suspended him from his position. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident with Officer A having been booked.
