Early Voting Day 1: 1.7% Turnout Recorded by 9 AM
As of 9 AM on the first day of early voting for the June 3 local elections and parliamentary by-elections on May 29, national voter turnout stood at 1.7%. Out of a total of 44,649,908 eligible voters, 758,381 participated in the early voting which began at 6 AM. This figure is 0.11 percentage points higher than the turnout during the same period in the 2022 local elections (1.59%).
Early voting will continue from May 29 to 30 at 3,571 polling stations nationwide, open from 6 AM to 6 PM. Voters can cast their ballots at any early voting station across the country, regardless of their registered address, provided they bring their identification.
By region, Jeollanam-do recorded the highest turnout at 4.12%, while Daegu had the lowest at 1.24%. Seoul's early voting rate was 1.57%, and Busan's was 1.44%.
The final early voting turnout for the 2022 local elections was 20.62%, and for the 2018 local elections, it was 20.14%.
