Trump Calls Reports of Iran Talks Halt 'Fake News'
U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed reports of a halt in talks with Iran as 'fake news,' stating that dialogue between the two countries is continuing. President Trump emphasized via his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday that reports claiming 'dialogue with Iran stopped a few days ago' were false, explaining that talks have been ongoing from four days ago until today.
Earlier, Iranian media had reported that Iran had suspended communication with mediators regarding ceasefire extension negotiations with the U.S., in protest against Israel's airstrike threats in Beirut and the expansion of military operations in Lebanon.
Amidst this, international oil prices showed an upward trend due to the uncertainty surrounding the U.S.-Iran ceasefire negotiations.
In the U.S., the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite all rose on Tuesday (local time) compared to the previous trading day. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices continued their upward trend for the ninth consecutive trading session.
It was reported that the U.S. military neutralized an empty oil tanker bound for Iran on Tuesday (local time).
