KOSPI Recovers 8,000 Mark on Hopes for War to End

The KOSPI has recovered the 8,000 mark. Yesterday (12th), the KOSPI closed at 8,123.62, up 359.67 points or 4.63% from the previous trading day. The KOSPI index rose sharply from the beginning of the trading session, opening with a gain of over 6% and reaching as high as 8,430 intraday.

A buy-side car was activated just 6 minutes after the market opened due to a surge in the futures index, marking the 13th buy-side car activation this year. Foreign investors turned to net purchases, buying over 2.1 trillion won worth of stocks. Institutions also engaged in net buying totaling 2.4 trillion won, while retail investors sold 4.3 trillion won worth. Top market capitalization stocks also saw gains, with Samsung Electronics rising over 7% and SK Hynix climbing more than 2%.

Easing tensions in the Middle East emerged as the key factor driving the KOSPI's strong performance.

The KOSDAQ closed at 1,029.05, up 3.22%, reclaiming the '1,000 KOSDAQ' level. In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won weakened against the dollar, with the exchange rate closing the week at 1,519.80 won per dollar, down 9 won and 10 jeon.
