PPP Slams Democratic Party's Demand to Drop NK Remittance Charges, Citing Lee Hwa-young Perjury Conviction

Following a court ruling that Lee Hwa-young's parliamentary testimony regarding a 'salmon and alcohol party' was false, the People Power Party (PPP) pressured Lee Jae-myung to abandon his obsession with dropping the charges in his North Korea remittance trial. The PPP pointed out that it is inappropriate for Lee to continue insisting on the cancellation of the indictment based on the conviction of former Vice Governor Lee.

Rep. Na Kyung-won also added that the 'salmon and alcohol party' allegations have been proven false.

Former Vice Governor Lee Hwa-young had testified at a parliamentary inspection hearing of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee in October 2024 that a 'salmon and alcohol party' was held to fabricate testimony in the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office's Room 1313.
