Mother and Son Found Dead in Eumseong After Voice Phishing Victimization

A 50-year-old mother and her 20-year-old son, who suffered financial losses from voice phishing (telephone financial fraud) in Eumseong County, Chungbuk, have been found dead, drawing widespread sadness.

On the 20th, police, responding to a report of the family members being unreachable, found them deceased in their home. A suicide note discovered at the scene reportedly detailed the difficulties they faced due to the voice phishing scam.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances, believing the son incurred financial losses amounting to approximately 50 million won.
