IMO Launches Operation for Safe Passage of 11,000 Vessels Through Strait of Hormuz
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) on the 23rd launched a large-scale operation to safely move 11,000 vessels and their crews, who were stranded in the Gulf region following a de-escalation agreement between the United States and Iran, through the Strait of Hormuz.
This operation is being conducted to restore maritime safety and prevent attacks on civilian vessels.
In a statement, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Domínguez announced that preparations have been completed to ensure the safety of seafarers and the continuity of global trade, with the cooperation of regional coastal states such as Iran and Oman, the United States, and the shipping industry.
