President Lee Jae-myung Commemorates Korean War Veterans
President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung attended a ceremony commemorating veterans who sacrificed for the nation on the 76th anniversary of the Korean War. They participated in the event held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province on the 25th, reflecting on the veterans' dedication.
The commemorative ceremony, held under the theme 'The Republic of Korea, Protected by Heroes, Shines in the World,' was attended by approximately 1,000 people, including Korean War veterans, key government and military officials, and diplomatic envoys stationed in Korea.
The ceremony began with a bugle call by the Ministry of National Defense Band, followed by the procession of flags from the 22 UN participating nations that supported the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. It continued with the awarding of medals for military merit, the President's commemorative address, and a celebratory performance.
The government newly awarded medals to three individuals who rendered distinguished service as irregular forces during the Korean War. President Lee Jae-myung personally presented the Hwarang Order of Military Merit to Lee Young-bok.
