People Power Party Criticizes Proposed Supplementary Budget for AI as 'Cash Handout'

The People Power Party (PPP) issued a critical statement on the 27th regarding President Lee Jae-myung's remarks about the need for large-scale acquisition of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) for AI industry development, suggesting the possibility of forming a supplementary budget.

PPP Chief Spokesperson Park Seong-hoon characterized President Lee's remarks as a "cash handout supplementary budget fronted by AI," arguing that any temporary surplus in tax revenue should be used to reduce national debt and restore fiscal soundness, and pointed out this as pouring public funds for political gain.

Democratic Party Chief Spokesperson Kang Jun-hyun stated in a separate comment that the formation of a supplementary budget has not yet been decided. He positively assessed President Lee's remarks about the necessity of financial supplementary measures as "timely rain."
