Han Dong-hoon likens Jang Dong-hyuk's stance to Hong Myung-bo, Jeong Mong-gyu refusing to resign

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon criticized interim People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk, who mentioned disciplinary action against calls for his resignation, by likening him to football national team coach Hong Myung-bo and Korea Football Association president Jeong Mong-gyu. Appearing on KBS Radio's 'Jeong Kwan-yong's Current Affairs Hub' on the day, Han assessed Jang's disciplinary policy as being "exactly like coach Hong Myung-bo or chairman Jeong Mong-gyu refusing to resign and saying 'if they demand resignation, we will impose disciplinary action.'" He added, "It's not something that will work."

Han Dong-hoon addressed Jang and the party leadership, stating, "They are engaging in bizarre actions as if they've drunk lye." He pointed out, "Didn't I suggest a confidence vote if they were confident about the party's sentiment? That talk also disappeared." He added that the proportion of the party's sentiment that the 'party leadership faction' can control will continue to shrink, and that ahead of national evaluations like general elections, the party's sentiment will eventually converge with public opinion.

Earlier, on June 26, shortly after returning to party duties following hospitalization, leader Jang Dong-hyuk named lawmakers Kim Yong-tae and Kim Jae-seop, stating, "The time has come to take appropriate measures according to the party's sentiment," and revealed a disciplinary policy for actions deemed problematic. This was interpreted as targeting lawmakers like Park Jeong-hoon, Bae Hyun-jin, and Woo Jae-joon, who supported Han Dong-hoon's campaign, as well as lawmakers belonging to the progressive faction group 'Alternative and Future'.
