Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan Council Paves Way for Semiconductor Investment Support with Inaugural Ordinance

The Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan Council, scheduled to launch on July 1, will process the 'Global Semiconductor Strategic Investment Support Ordinance' as its first ordinance. This ordinance aims to establish a metropolitan-level semiconductor industry support system and create a semiconductor strategy committee, laying the groundwork for administrative and financial support based on the scale of investment attraction by companies.

As the existing semiconductor support ordinances for Jeonnam Province and Gwangju City were not incorporated into the essential ordinances for the launch of the unified metropolitan city, the council has prepared the ordinance as its first agenda item.

The newly launched Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan Council plans to address local legislative bills first in its inaugural plenary session on July 1. The ordinance in question is expected to be processed as a bill initiated by council members, rather than by the executive branch.
