Garo-Sero Institute Head Kim Se-ui to Stand Trial on Charges of Threat and Spreading False Information
Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel 'Garo-Sero Institute', will stand trial on charges of threatening to leak private information related to actor Kim Soo-hyun and spreading false information 25 times. Prosecutors have indicted Kim on five charges, including threat, attempted coercion, defamation, and stalking.
Last March, Kim allegedly threatened to leak materials related to Kim Soo-hyun during a YouTube live broadcast and demanded the cancellation of a drama. Kim showed partially exposed photos of Kim Soo-hyun's lower body, stating, 'There are other photos besides this.'
Kim is accused of forcing Kim Soo-hyun to admit to and apologize for false claims, such as dating Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. Prosecutors determined that Kim defamed Kim Soo-hyun by broadcasting false information on 25 occasions and attempted to coerce him into performing an act he was not obligated to do, which resulted in an attempted crime.
Prosecutors deemed Kim's actions to constitute stalking. His continued YouTube broadcasts even after a court-issued protective order were also included in the stalking charges.
The first hearing for Garo-Sero Institute head Kim Se-ui is scheduled for August 14 at the Seoul Central District Court. Separately from the Kim Soo-hyun case, Kim is also facing charges of defaming popular YouTuber Tzuyang.
